AD is a fundamental part of waste management - especially in wastewater treatment

This process offers huge potential for turning waste into energy through heat and directly through methane capture to create biogas and electricity.

Digesters are notoriously challenging to monitor

High solids content, temperature & pH fluctuations, and the need to keep the system closed and dark to maintain anaerobic conditions in the process all make monitoring difficult. Tracking how the digester is performing has traditionally be done using lagging indicators like biogas volume or manual VFA samples.

Digesters are often substantially under-loaded to avoid upsets or - even worse - a souring event. No one wants to deal with the downtime or costs associated with cleaning out and re-seeding a digester.
