Terravest Renewables currently has a career opportunity available for a Process Engineer at our downtown Calgary location.

Reporting to the General Manager of the Renewables division, this individual will be the process engineering support for manufacturing, design, and product development activities. They require experience in gas processing & conditioning, process simulation, sizing and selection of typical gas processing equipment, and designing for process safety. The objective of this role is to provide detailed process design and equipment selection for turn-key processing systems to produce renewable gasses from underutilized waste streams. The successful process engineer will work closely with the manufacturing, product management, and applications engineering teams to ensure systems delivered to customers meet the technical requirements in a safe, reliable, and cost-effective manner.

Responsibilities

• Detailed specification of all process equipment during the detailed design phase of projects
• Typical equipment includes 2-phase separators, heat exchangers, pumps, compressors, automated control valves, mechanical regulators, PSVs, instruments and continuous gas analyzers
• Work effectively with manufacturing and product management to ensure appropriate integration of all process systems
• Support field service and commissioning activities when process troubleshooting is required
• Supporting sales activities by generating material balances and initial equipment selection criteria
• Developing process estimation tools to simplify and improve accuracy of proposals
• Be able to identify multiple technical solutions to demonstrate value propositions and competitive advantage
• Drafting of process and instrumentation diagrams from conception through to issuance for construction

Job Qualifications

• University degree in chemical engineering, or mechanical engineering with process engineering experience
• 5+ years’ experience in process engineering or operations engineering roles for process equipment manufacturing, oil & gas production, or equivalent education and experience
• A strong understanding of fundamental gas processing concepts, practical experience with common process simulation software (eg. HYSYS, Aspen Plus, VMGSim/Symmetry, HTRI)
• Proficient with full office suite (Excel, Power Point, Word)
• Proficiency with drafting software (eg. AutoCAD, DraftSight, SolidWorks, eDrawing) are beneficial
• Strong verbal communication and technical writing skills
• Time management skills with an ability to prioritize and schedule assigned workload
• Willing to travel periodically for client meetings, sites tours, and to attend conferences & trade shows
• Great attitude, works well independently and in teams, and well organized
• Embraces change and able to adapt with a quickly growing team and fast paced project environment
